A message from RNP’s Chief Executive Officer…

Welcome to our website! We invite you to learn about our agency – what we’ve accomplished, and what we have to offer for persons seeking assistance in their recovery from addiction.
As you explore our website you will find that RNP offers a broad range of services among 14 different specialty programs at various levels of care, including both residential and outpatient treatment. We work vigorously to ensure that our services incorporate the best evidence-based practices the field has to offer for the clients we serve. By definition, offering state-of-the-art treatment is not a static goal, but a continuous process of learning, innovation, and performance improvement. Science inform us with the process of developing innovative treatment approaches, and our clients inform us about how well we are succeeding in helping them with their recovery goals. We feel that this combination of professional expertise and person-centered care is an ideal formula for successful partnership with our clients in their individual journeys of recovery.
Below you will find a listing of some of our accomplishments during the past year. We are proud of our work and we trust you share our enthusiasm for supporting recovery.
Accomplishments of RNP for FY 2010:
- Opened the First Step program in Bridgeport, a residential program offering detoxification services for alcohol, opiates and benzodiazepines .
- Selected by the Connecticut Women’s Consortium and the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services as one of only two programs to participate in the Trauma-informed Gender-responsive (TiGr) Initiative. This award includes development of a research study and consultation with nationally-recognized experts to improve trauma services for women working on addiction recovery.
- RNP was recognized by Hearst Media Services in its listing of Connecticut’s Top Places to Work list. Out of 800 submissions for this listing, RNP ranked in the top 35! This selection was based on an exhaustive survey of employees measuring qualities such as company leadership, compensation and training, workplace flexibility, and diversity.
- RNP has continued its commitment to sharing its expertise on current substance abuse issues and trends with local communities. RNP leadership has conducted presentations during the past year at various community forums, with illicit prescription drug use among adolescents and young adults, and underage binge drinking being topics of particular interest at these forums.
- New Prospects, RNP’s intensive residential treatment program for individuals with co-occurring addiction and psychiatric disorders, was awarded certification by DMHAS as a Dual Diagnosis Enhanced (DDE) program. DDE is the highest recognition possible on a continuum of performance that is rated using a research-validated fidelity scale.
- The Center for Human Services (CHS) and Kinsella Treatment Center (KTC) were each awarded certification by DMHAS as a Dual Diagnosis Capable (DDC) program for treating persons with co-occurring addiction and psychiatric disorders. A DDC rating indicates that it meets high standards for treating the whole range of psychiatric disorders which commonly present in the CHS and KTC target client populations. This is a very unique accomplishment, as they are the only dedicated medication assisted treatment (methadone) programs in the state to have accomplished this recognition.
If our expertise and programs can be of any help to you, your family, or your community, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your interest.
Sincerely,
John Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer
